We started our tree wire basket business in 1999 following a specific request from a French based fencing company. The request was pretty clear: Find an appropriate provider of metal mesh basket or tree wire basket or as also called wire basket in China in order for this French business owner to get his business back in France and fight the China competition. China products that he used to order after giving up his own wire basket production (due to high man hour cost in France and so impossibility to compete anymore) seemed pretty correct but the production was discontinued and he needed a trustworthy partner in China Mainland for proper business, technology and logistics follow up. I must confess that it was not an easy task for all of us to get this business back on track. But we really wanted it to succeed and we started working on it. The goal was to find a provider. At that time we were pretty much involved in Consulting business and acted as usually in this case, as a turnkey business consulting firm: we delivered him with a complete turnkey solution: work on his business plan, understand his request for proposal, identify a long list then a short list, audit the short list businesses quality policies, get brochures, etc: the usual stuff. We were pretty much surprised by the fact that so few if any businesses in China were able to deliver the level of quality expected by the French business owner. In fact, none of them were able to meet the requirements. So our customer finally decided to train the provider we chose to learn the technical aspects. The results were frankly speaking far from our-his expectations. Although the products were sellable there was so many technical and logistical details to be modified and so many ways for improvement that we decided to invest directly and start our own facility. It was really a gageure but a so exciting and interesting period. Our customer decided finally to trust our own manufacturing ability. The second year we developped 10% of his production then the third year reached 100%. This was a great deal of work and a team achievement since all the production depended on us finally. The 4th year we decided to invest in getting better workshop facilities and imported second-hand machinery to get better product shape with semi-automated equipment. One of the thing we are particularly proud of is that by starting this new manufacturing business we were able to give work to close to a 100 peasants in the surroundings during the peak season. So, the 4th year was a turning point for us. We were able to get the most out of the equipment while starting to be indispensable in EU. We were concerned though that our products be not dealing on the cheap of the cheap market but better on an optimal quality while keeping price low. Our tree wire baskets are the most liable, strongest and with great price on the French market now and acknowledged as such. After the 5th year, our products are ready to be shipped worldwide. We own an export license (which avoid customers to get the products through a middle organization or a middle man charging a fee for export authorization paper work) and are providing our customers under their own brand. We started this business for helping a customer, then we organized our team to develop a whole manufacturing facility, finally we are able to serve customers with our standard products.
